Research In Motion (RIM) has added yet another smart phone to the current line up of Blackberry. The major targets for this Blackberry Tour 9630 phone are the executives as well as mainstream customers.
This new Blackberry Tour 9630 smartphone has features lying between the Blackberry curve, preferred by the mainstream customers and the Blackberry bold, which is targeted for the corporate world.
The co-Chief Executive of Research In Motion, Jim Balsillie, mentioned in an interview that Blackberry Tour will be launched very shortly with Sprint and Verizon in the US. He also mentioned that Blackberry Tour will also be available in Canada with the service providers being BCE’s Bell and Telus.
The Blackberry Tour is not very much differentiated from other Blackberry handsets in its appearance. The Blackberry Tour also takes the shape of the candy bar with a complete keyboard. RIM has mentioned this one as the “world phone” which indicates that it can be used easily for accessing voice as well as data services on the networks which are outside the home country of the users. For the retail market, Tour has the multimedia features which can be found in Blackberry Curve and Blackberry Pearl, which includes a video and photo camera as well as a media player.
Even though RIM is unveiling products which cater to the needs of the cross customer segments, it also takes care for not alienating the corporate customers, since the corporate users have been relying on Blackberry for sending emails over wireless networks in a secure manner.
